SECTION 4 – SHOPIFY
Our online store is hosted on Shopify and can be accessed at https://william-standen-co.myshopify.com. Shopify provides us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.
Shopify collects their merchants’ customers’ names, email, shipping and billing addresses, payment details, company names, phone numbers, IP addresses, information about orders they initiate, information about the Shopify-supported merchant stores that they visit, and information about the devices and browsers they use.
Shopify uses this information to provide William Standen with the Shopify services, including supporting and processing orders, risk and fraud screening, authentication, and payments. Shopify also uses this information to improve their overall service offering.
If customers opt in to Shopify Pay, Shopify will store and use this information to pre-fill customer checkout information. Shopify additionally uses this information to help customize and improve the Shopify experience when customers visit a merchant store by presenting them with goods and services that are likely to be of interest.
Shopify uses some of the personal information customers provide to conduct some level of automated decision-making. Certain personal information (for example, IP addresses or payment information) is used to automatically block certain potentially fraudulent transactions for a short period of time.

Shopify follows industry standards on information security management to safeguard sensitive information, such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details and any other personal information entrusted to them. Shopify’s information security systems apply to people, processes and information technology systems on a risk-management basis.
Shopify performs annual audits to ensure that their handling of your credit card information aligns with industry guidelines. Shopify is certified as a PCI DSS Level 1 compliant service provider, which is the highest level of compliance available, and the Shopify platform is audited annually by a third-party qualified security assessor.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner by which your personal information will be handled.

So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.
As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.
